Outreach

We offer our time, talent, and treasure to the care and formation of God’s people and the world toward the vision of Becoming Beloved Community.  Our focus is on feeding and housing ministries.

Through these ministries, we seek to practice the Episcopal Church’s Five Marks of Mission. We aim to deepen our life-giving Christian identity (our formation) through the intersections of our worship, our learning, and our action in the world.

The Five Marks of Mission invite us to be formed by: 

  1. proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom, 

  2. teaching, baptizing, and nurturing new believers,

  3. responding to human needs by loving service,

  4. seeking to transform unjust structures of society, challenging violence of every kind and pursuing peace and reconciliation, and

  5. striving to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustaining and renewing the life of the earth.

We strive each year to offer ten percent of our pledged income to our outreach ministries. 

We change and are changed by the way we bring ourselves into contact with one another. If you are interested in discovering what it means to form and be formed through mission and outreach, jump into any of the ministries below.

  • Hot Meals –  Help our hungry and homeless population in Fairfax County. Shop, cook, assemble, clean up, and deliver up to 150 hot meals on the fourth Thursday of odd-numbered months (January, March, May, July, September, and November). We’re especially delighted to share this ministry with our Muslim friends and other ecumenical groups in the region. Visit our Hot Meals page for more information or to sign up to help.

  • Hypothermia Shelter – Each year in December, we open our building to those for whom housing is out of reach. Our initial goal – to provide an interim, safe, and warm place to stay while upholding the dignity of the guests who join us and of those we work alongside. Our ultimate goal is to, as FACETS says, “prevent and end homelessness.” Want to learn more about this program? View our 2026 Hypothermia Shelter page.

  • Angel Tree – This program enables us to honor the dignity of families desiring to experience the abundance of Christmas but do not currently have the means to do so. So we shop for them!

FACETS

Our primary outreach partner is FACETS, founded by a parishioner in the late 1980s. This connection shaped our core outreach focus on feeding and housing. The primary programs we partner with them through include Angel Tree, Hypothermia Shelter, and Hot Meals.

FOOD PANTRY

This joint ministry of Epiphany EC and Community of Faith United Methodist Church serves those for whom food insecurity is daily and constant.

Need Food? – Stop by every Tuesday from 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm to receive food from the food distribution at Community of Faith United Methodist Church:

  • Join the food distribution held at Community of Faith United Methodist Church on Tuesdays anytime between 4:30 pm and 6:00 pm.

  • Help with set-up for food distribution Monday and Tuesday anytime during the day

  • Help bring in stored food from Epiphany on Tuesday mornings

  • Sign up to pick up food at local area restaurants and stores

FAIRFAX & BEYOND

We participate in Fairfax County programs and those through our national church to engage in our feeding and housing ministries.

  • Food4Thought – Every second Sunday of the month, from September through May, we dart from worship, before heading to fellowship, to pack food for Fairfax County School kids who experience food insecurity.  We pack food so they will have food over the weekend. What a fantastic connection between what we say in worship and what we do! Visit Food4Thought for more information.

  • Episcopal Relief and Development – Episcopal Relief & Development (ERD) works with Church partners to respond, save, and transform communities worldwide.
